The Rt. Hon John Gummer, Lord Deben, is the founder and Chairman of Sancroft International, a consultancy that advises both businesses and investors on all areas of Sustainability and ESG.

Between 2012 and 2023 he was Chairman of the UK’s Independent Climate Change Committee. Lord Deben was also the UK’s longest serving Secretary of State for the Environment (1993-97) having previously been Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food. His sixteen years of top-level ministerial experience also include Minister for London, Employment Minister, and Paymaster General in HM Treasury. Lord Deben is currently Chairman of Valpak Ltd and of PIMFA, the trade body representing financial advisers and wealth managers.

Throughout his political, business, and personal life Lord Deben has consistently championed an accord between sustainability and business sense.

Mike joined Carbon Tracker in 2019, and now leads the Oil, Gas and Mining research team, focused on developing metrics and tools to enable investors to assess the financial implications of the energy transition on these sectors, alongside assessment of corporate climate-alignment.

Key outputs include Managing Peak Oil, Navigating Peak Demand and theParis Maligned series alongside overseeing data and analytics outputs and the development of the refreshed company profiles. Other research themes include executive remuneration and broader financial system implications, covered in the Petrostates series.

Prior to joining Carbon Tracker, Mike worked as a geologist for BP for 10 years on projects across the Upstream value chain, from access to development. Mike has experience working in petroleum basins across the world, including time spent working in Norway, with expertise in unconventional exploration and in leading technical project teams.

Mike has an MA and MSci in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and is a Chartered Geologist (CGeol).

Karina Danilyuk is a Managing Director and Global Head of the Metals & Mining sector in Rothschild & Co’s Global Advisory division. She is based in London. Karina has over 23 years of experience advising companies in the mining industry on a range of transactions, including M&A, corporate and project financings and restructurings.

Karina obtained an MBA from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BSFS from Georgetown University.

Claire is responsible for leading the portfolio of sustainable finance related projects across London Stock Exchange Group’s Capital Markets business which includes equities, fixed income and ETFs. Claire has played an important role in the development of model ESG disclosure and reporting guidance for London Stock Exchange listed companies and initiatives such as an ESG Disclosure Tool, the publication of a guide to green finance and Green Economy Mark for AIM and Main Market companies.  Claire’s background is in the fund management industry and in equity capital markets, working with private and listed companies. Claire is a member of an industry Taskforce on the Scaling of Voluntary Carbon Markets.

Positioned at the heart of global financial markets, LSEG works across the investment and finance chain from issuers to asset owners, and across the financial, banking, trading and advisory ecosystem. As such LSEG is uniquely positioned to support clients in achieving the transition to a sustainable and net-zero economy and was the first exchange group to commit to net zero emissions.

Iain is the Cross Border Head of the Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Group at Simmons & Simmons. He acts for Investment Funds and Corporates and is a leading practitioner in relation to mining & metals and power transactions.

He advises on M&A, projects, joint ventures and finance matters (including prepays, streams and royalties). Clients note that he “understands the mining industry as a whole very well.” whilst being “very tuned into mining and is very client-focused” (Chambers & Partners 2025). 

Iain spent six months on secondment at an Energy/Resources major.

He regularly speaks at international conferences in the Energy and Natural Resources sectors and sits on the Council of the London based society for the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

Experience includes advising: British Lithium on its joint venture with Imerys to develop the UK’s largest lithium deposit (which will result in the UK’s first integrated producer of battery-grade lithium, with production targets to supply 500,000 electric cars per year); Orion Resource Partners on its joint venture with Fusion Capital, on the acquisition and financing of the SASA lead and zinc mine in Macedonia and its subsequent sale (by way of reverse takeover) to Central Asia Metals; Mantoverde on its $847m financing package, including $520m of senior debt and $275m equity funding and offtake with Mitsubishi Materials, for its copper and gold project in Chile; and Mainstream Renewable Power on its pan-African and Chilean joint ventures with funds including IFC, Rockefeller Brothers and Actis, and the sale of its interests in those JVs.

Katya Gorbatiouk has over 20 years of experience in international capital markets. She works at the London Stock Exchange in Primary Capital Markets, having recently taken on a new role as Head of Investment Funds.  From February 2022 Katya serves on the Best Practice Committee of the Investor Relations Society. She served on the judging panel for the IR Society 2021 Best Practice Awards in ESG Communications. Her article on the evolution of corporate communications was published in the 2021/22 issue of the IR Society Journal Informed.

Katya previously chaired the Board Effectiveness & Stakeholder Governance working group at the Institute of Directors’ Centre for Corporate Governance. She has co-authored an IoD publication on best practices of enacting a stakeholder-centric approach by corporate boards.  Katya has been a long-standing board member of organisations with high social impact, such as the Global Leaders Program (Washington DC), London Music Fund, London Symphony Orchestra and others.

Julien Halfon is Head of Corporate and Pension Solutions within BNP Paribas Asset Management’s Multi-Asset and Solutions investment group. Based in London, Julien is responsible for constructing customised solutions for clients, including balance sheet management, private asset and overlays. He also runs BNP Paribas Asset Management’s efforts in developing and managing Decommissioning Prefunding Solutions.

Julien has extensive financial industry experience, gained within asset management, investment banking and consulting. He joins from Mercer, where he was a Senior Consultant in the Structured Solutions Group. Previous roles include Head of UK & European Coverage at P-Solve, Head of European Solutions at Lazard, Senior Consultant at Hewitt, Bacon & Woodrow and Senior Associate within European Pensions & Insurance Strategy at Goldman Sachs. He began his career as an economist at the French Finance Ministry, before working for the European Commission. 

Julien holds a Masters in Banking, Finance & Insurance and a Masters in International Economics & Finance, both from Paris Dauphine University, an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MA from The School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

Ashley joined RLAM in November 2013 following the acquisition of The Co-operative Asset Management (TCAM) by the Royal London Group. Ashley has over 18 years of experience in sustainability and responsible investing and is responsible for our strategy and overseeing RLAM’s approach to responsible investment across our asset classes. Her team is responsible for company engagement, governance and voting, environmental, social and governance (ESG) research, data and analysis, and supporting RLAM’s approach to climate transition. Ashley is RLAM’s key subject matter expert and spokesperson on responsible investing, ESG and corporate governance. Before joining RLAM, Ashley conducted corporate engagement and ESG analysis for the Local Authority Pension Fund Forum (LAPFF). Prior to that she was a research analyst and corporate engagement consultant for SHARE, a proxy voting and shareholder engagement consultancy based in Vancouver, Canada.  She has a Master of Arts degree (Political Science) and a Bachelor of Arts degree (Political Science and Sociology) from the University of British Columbia. She currently serves as a member of the Responsible Investment Advisory Group for the UK Local Government Pension Scheme Advisory Board, the UK Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) Disclosures and Labels Advisory Group, and is a voluntary board member of the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA).

David has worked in sustainable investment for over 20 years, with most of that time at the LSEG and the FTSE Russell. 

He is responsible for driving strategic initiatives and partnerships across all LSEG group divisions, having previously led sustainable investment for the FTSE Russell, and sustainable finance strategy for the LSEG’s Data & Analytics division.  

David has held a variety of industry positions, including being a member of the European Commission’s High Level Expert Group (HLEG) on Sustainable Finance. He currently represents the LSEG as a co-lead of the GFANZ work stream on Mainstream Transition Finance, as co-chair of the Transition Plan Taskforce sectoral guidance work stream, and as a vice-chair of the FCA convened ESG Data & Ratings Working Group.  He also chaired the UN Sustainable Stock Exchange's work developing both Model ESG and Climate Reporting Guidance.  His career started with ADL’s Environment & Risk Practice, and PwC's climate change consulting team. 

Mark Lacey is a Head of Thematic Equities at Schroders, which involves being the fundmanager for the Commodities strategy. Joined Schroders in 2013. In 2006 wasranked as No.1 energy investment specialist in the 2006 Thompson Extel Survey. Hejoined Schroders in 2013 and is based in London.

Mark was a Portfolio Manager at Investec from 2000 to 2013, which involvedmanaging the global energy funds.

He was a Head of Global Energy at Goldman Sachs from 1996 to 2000, which involvedmanaging energy funds. 

Karina is Ambassador & Founding Chairman of the Climate Governance Initiative. She serves on the boards of Italian power grid operator Terna S.p.A., on the Controls, Risks & Sustainability Committee and the Nominations, Governance & Scenarios Committee; 

Karina's previous role included a Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Remuneration & Social Responsibility Committee of UK independent oil & gas operator EnQuest plc.

Since the passage of the Paris Agreement at CoP21 in 2015, Karina has been working to build a global network for fellow board directors to drive the adoption of effective Paris-aligned climate transition strategies in the boardroom.

Adam is the Director of Ethics and Engagement for the Church of England Pensions Board, as well as Co-Chair of the Transition Pathway Initiative and a Board Member of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, (IIGCC). He is also the co-lead, on behalf of CA100+, for engagement with Royal Dutch Shell that led to the 2018 joint statement on climate targets agreed between Shell and institutional investors.

Following the Brumadinho Tailings Dam disaster, Adam is co – lead of the Mining and Tailings Safety Initiative with John Howchin, from the Swedish Ethics Council. He also represents the Principles for Responsible Investment as a co – convenor of the Global Tailings Review.

Adam founded and now Co-Chairs the Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) an asset owner-led and asset manager-supported global initiative which assess companies’ preparedness for the transition to the low carbon economy (and publishes this through the London School of Economics).  Adam is also the lead for the Church of England on the Mining and Faith Reflections Initiative (MFRI) a forum that convenes dialogue between mining company CEO’s and Church leaders.

Adam also serves as a member of the Royal College of Physicians Investment Advisory Board and on the Pension and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA) Stewardship Advisory Group.

Adrian is currently leading a programme to scale-up sustainable finance and ESG disclosure across London Stock Exchange Group’s Capital Markets business, which to date has established a Green Economy classification across its markets; an ESG Disclosure benchmarking tool for companies; and the publication of a guide to green finance, in addition to supporting the launch of a new Sustainable Bond Market.

Adrian established ABN AMRO’s Environmental Markets business in 2006 and later supported renewable energy and clean-tech clients as a Director in RBS’ corporate finance team. As CEO of international certification body the Gold Standard, Adrian oversaw the development of result-based finance tools that have enabled hundreds of clean technology and sustainable land-use projects to attract millions of dollars in investment, including via his involvement in creating Fairtrade International’s Fairtrade Climate Standard.

Adrian is a Non-Executive Director of Evora, a leading sustainable real-estate advisor and software business.

Nick is the Head of Climate Solutions at LGIM. Previously, he was Head of Commodity Research. Nick joined in 2013 as a Fund Manager in LGIM’s Global Equity team, focused on energy and natural resources. Prior to joining LGIM he was an Investment Director for Developed Asia and Global Emerging Markets at Standard Life Investments. He previously worked for an emerging market focused hedge fund investing in equities, convertible bonds and distressed debt. He has also worked in a corporate advisory role and as a software developer. Nick has a law degree (LLB) and a Master’s in jurisprudence (MJur), focused on securities law, from the University of Durham.

Tim is responsible for the FCDO’s overall approach to energy, covering clean energy technologies and supply chains - from hydrogen to critical minerals; civil-nuclear policy; international oil and gas markets; energy security; energy access; and the UK’s fossil fuel policy. He was previously Deputy Director for the British Government’s International Energy Unit, a joint team between FCDO and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. He has been Deputy Director for Africa Regional Department, overseeing £250 million of ODA programmes for climate and clean growth, spent three years as the UK’s Development Representative to the African Union in Addis Ababa, and served as Development Representative in Helmand, Afghanistan

Jan-Willem van de Ven joined the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in August 2003. He is the Head of the International Climate Policy and Engagement at the EBRD Climate Strategy and Delivery Department. The role includes carbon market development, climate finance strategy and international climate policy engagement. He is a Senior Advisor on the MDB Climate Group, Member of the Katowice Committee on the Implementation of Response Measures, Steering Committee Member of the NDC Partnership and Sherpa for the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action.

Jan-Willem has over twenty years of experience in the development of sustainable energy projects from Northern
Africa, Central America to Eastern Europe. He plays an active role in the international policy dialogue for carbon
markets, climate finance and the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Prior to EBRD, he worked as Innovation Manager with Dutch utility company Essent. He has a M.Sc degree in
Technology and Society International Technological Development Science from the Eindhoven University of
Technology and a B.Eng in Business Engineering from the Eindhoven Higher Technical School. 

Nicola Woodroffe is a senior legal analyst at the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) with several years of experience advising government and non-government stakeholders in resource-rich countries on extractive sector policy. She provides technical assistance, capacity development and analysis on legislative, policy and institutional reform, as well as contract allocation and monitoring. Prior to joining NRGI, Nicolaworked as a consultant at the World Bank, where she focused on governance and management of extractive industries in central and southeast Africa. She also worked as an associate at the international law firm Hogan Lovells LLP, advising on corporate and securities law, as well as mining and agricultural concession agreements. She has worked in the trial chambers of the U.N. International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, as well as the Supreme Court of Rwanda. She holds a juris doctor degree from Harvard Law School and bachelor’s degree in economics from Swarthmore College.

Natalia is running a Natural Resources Forum in London, an independent forum for mining and oil & gas companies to come together for presentations, discussion and debate with leading investors, analysts and senior industry advisors. Natalia has over 18 years’ experience working alongside natural resources companies assisting with M&A transactions, asset sale, capital raisings, crisis communications and strategic profile raising. 

Natalia was Director of Corporate Communications and Company Secretary for Taurex Resources. Natalia has worked for Alfa Capital Markets in London and Halliburton International in Moscow. Natalia holds an MA in International Banking and Finance from London Metropolitan University and an MA in International Relations from Moscow State University.

Previously at Park Place Capital, Oilexco and Canaccord Genuity, Aymone is an experienced entrepreneurial marketing, communications and investor relations professional with over 20 years experience, working in both corporate and institutional settings mainly across the natural resources sector.  Aymone started her career in Washington DC at the Population Institute before moving on to work back in Hong Kong and mainland China in the medical scientific instrumentation sector.  Aymone is a volunteer and currently Deputy Managing Director and Head of Events, and Conference Partnerships at Women in Mining UK.
